About me

I’ve been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. My love of realism and nature led me to study at the Art Students League, Parsons School of Design, the School of Visual Arts, and the New York Academy of Art in New York City.

My early work as a Natural Science Illustrator taught me to observe the world with patience and awe, and portraiture soon became an important part of my artistic path. I was awarded Signature status by what was then the American Society of Portrait Artists, and my work has been shown in national and international exhibitions.

Teaching has always been central to my art. I directed The Academy of Classical Art in West Palm Beach, Florida, and I’m the author of six instructional books for Walter Foster. I’m also the creator of The Sketch Hunter®, a project devoted to exploring the meeting place of art, nature, and spirit. Now based in Central Italy, I continue to find inspiration in its light, landscape, and artistic heritage—and in helping others rediscover their own creative spark.
